Christian Butts, who hails from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, managed to pursue a wide array of interests both in and out of the classroom while gaining diverse work experiences and research opportunities at Penn. His passion for international relations, history, and languages was ignited while singing in the Philadelphia Boys Choir and Chorale. This prompted his decision to focus on Business Economics and Public Policy (BEPP) and Social Impact and Responsibility at Wharton. As a 2018 Wharton Peer Advising Fellow, he found fulfillment in offering guidance to younger students.

Christian was deeply involved in Penn’s International Affairs Association and was key in organizing and funding a free conference for high school students. He also served as a Perry World House Student Fellow. Apart from academic and diplomatic pursuits, he also found time to be part of the Pennchants a capella group and the Samba Ensemble. When questioned about how he managed everything, Christian emphasized the importance of finding joy and remaining grounded by doing what he loves.

Christian amassed diverse work experiences, including internships at Morgan Stanley, the SEC, Senator Cory Booker's office, and the African American Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he participated in the Wharton Public Policy Research Scholars program, delving into international trade policy. Through his varied experiences, Christian has equipped himself for a career in economic consulting.

Christian has set his sights on working as an economic consultant at the Brattle Group in D.C. He aspires to further explore his academic interests in international relations, law, and policy, with potential plans to attend law school and specialize in international trade or development law.
